Jonathan Aceituno-Caicedo

Personal Statement:

I am a second-Generation Canadian, a blue-collar factory worker and proud member of the working class. 

I am tired and frustrated by the status quo. The maddening feeling of being disenfranchised with broken promises and being ignored by the government has led me to here. I am done with yelling at the void while looking at the people enjoying all that life has to offer. These people feast on the riches while giving us scraps to survive off of. 

No more, I say. We are humans. We have rights and needs and hopes for a better future! Not one where the few get to enjoy life while we scramble to survive. Certainly not one where others get fat and rich off the years of labour we have to give. Like many of you, I am realizing the system they have promised us is a broken one, with lies to cover up their siphoning of resources. They have pulled the ladder right out from underneath us.

Screw that. I'm going to fight for us to have a chance at building the future that we deserve. We don't need to be University Alumni to figure out that the way things currently are does not add up. We deserve a future where we can thrive, not just survive.

I will fight for that future, and not by thinking of policy or action for just the next election cycle. We need to enact policy and plans for our children and 7 generations down the line. We need to act today to safe-guard tomorrow.
